Over two weeks leading up to 19 August 2025, members of the open-weather network captured the final satellite images from NOAA-15, the last of three NOAA satellites to be decommissioned this summer.
The last satellite image received by the open-weather network was on 19 August at 18:56 by a ground station in Mauritius, operated by Maufox.
This storyline β and the wider Public Archive of more than 3,000 images received by amateur ground stations β documents the end of public access to analogue weather satellite transmissions.
