They call it the Rim of the World, because it feels like the rim of the world. This is in the San Bernardino mountains at the edge of San Andreas fault line. There are a cluster of rocks across from the Rim of the World High School with a spectacular view and a very dramatic drop-off. I was hoping for a cleaner image from 2,000 meters, no obstructions and an 81° elevation.
Our political climate feels like we are at a metaphorical environmental precipice. In the news today the EPA is being defunded and making a legal argument that "greenhouse gases do not endanger people." I don't know what else to say.
