As the sun rises on the west coast of North America the presidential election is under way. Regardless of the outcome, about half the voting population agrees with a presidential candidate who belittles the prospect of climate change. He called this a hoax played out by China. He withdrew the US from the Paris Accord. He promises to resurrect the US coal industry. And just two days before the election he stated that the cool weather in Pennsylvania is "evidence". The calm Pacific below the bluffs hasn't done much to calm my nerves - yet.
